We need a city where little feet can grow, play, and thrive.
Niños & Neighbors wants to highlight three ballot measures that Santa Fe voters will get to vote for, that we think are especially important and relevant for families with young children in our City.
Ballot measures are proposals that have been placed on the voting ballot through the legislative process to allow voters to vote directly on them—for or against.
2026 ballot measures for Santa Feans include:
Constitutional Amendments: to make changes to New Mexico’s Constitution, which can only happen by public vote.
General Obligation (GO) Bonds: voter-approved loans that cities use to fund public infrastructure andimprovements, repaid by future property taxes. (Important: these do not increase tax rates!)
$4.5 Million General Obligation Bond for improvements to the Municipal Recreation Complex Soccer Valley, including athletic fields and related recreational infrastructure.

$4.25 Million GO Bond for SWAN Park to build Santa Fe's first-ever splash pad (finally!) and add other family-oriented recreational amenities.

Constitutional Amendment 4 to establish compensation for state legislators, letting New Mexico become the final state in country to have a professional salaried lawmaking body. Why?
Connected to us: The salary level is tied to New Mexico's median household income.
Allows real representation: You don't have to be rich or retired to run for office.
Lets working families serve! Parents of young kids can afford to serve and can represent family needs in the Capitol.
